PRP Therapy
RegenLife Centers offers platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy in Cincinnati, OH and Edgewood, KY for patients with osteoarthritis, tendon and ligament injuries, rotator cuff and shoulder pain, tennis elbow, knee and hip pain, plantar fasciitis, and chronic musculoskeletal pain. Performed by Dr. Zeeshan Tayeb — board-certified in Pain Medicine and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation — PRP uses your own concentrated platelets and growth factors, delivered under image guidance, to stimulate the body's natural repair process and restore function without surgery or long-term medication.
What is PRP Therapy?
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a regenerative biologic treatment created from a small sample of your own blood. The blood is processed in a centrifuge that separates and concentrates the platelets — the cells responsible for clotting and tissue repair — into a plasma rich in growth factors, cytokines, and signaling proteins.
When injected directly into an injured tendon, ligament, joint, or other soft tissue, this concentrated plasma recruits stem cells, activates fibroblasts, and triggers the body's natural healing cascade. The result is genuine tissue repair, not just short-term symptom relief.
Because PRP uses your own biological material, the risk of allergic reaction, rejection, or disease transmission is essentially eliminated. It is a non-surgical, drug-free alternative — and often a bridge that helps patients avoid joint replacement or invasive surgery.
Conditions PRP Therapy Treats
PRP is most effective for orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions involving damaged soft tissue, mild to moderate osteoarthritis, and tendinopathies that have not responded to conservative care:
Joint Osteoarthritis
Mild to moderate arthritis of the knee, hip, shoulder, ankle, and small joints — reduces pain, improves function, may slow cartilage degeneration.
Tendon Injuries
Tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, rotator cuff tendinopathy, Achilles tendinopathy, patellar tendinitis, and gluteal tendinopathy.
Ligament & Soft Tissue
Partial ligament tears, chronic sprains, plantar fasciitis, hamstring and groin injuries that have stalled in healing.
Spine & Back Pain
Facet joint pain, sacroiliac joint dysfunction, and select discogenic pain when interventional injections alone have not provided durable relief.
What to Expect During a PRP Procedure
A typical PRP appointment at RegenLife takes about 60 to 90 minutes from check-in to discharge:
Blood Draw
A small volume of blood — usually 30 to 60 mL — is drawn from your arm by our on-site phlebotomy team.
Centrifuge Processing
The blood is spun in a medical-grade centrifuge for 10 to 15 minutes to concentrate the platelets and remove unwanted components.
Image-Guided Injection
Using ultrasound or fluoroscopic guidance for precise placement, the prepared PRP is injected directly into the injured tissue or joint.
Recovery & Follow-Up
Mild soreness for 2 to 5 days is expected. Most patients return to light activity the next day and notice gradual improvement over 4 to 12 weeks, with follow-up visits to track progress.
